    Personal Background

Born in California to my wonderful parents Joseph and Diane Sagmiller.  I grew up in southern California.  I have one fantastic brother, Brian Sagmiller.  We moved to Oregon when I was in Eighth Grade.  I graduated from Beaverton High School.   The last two years of high school, I happened to get a job in the optical department of the local mall.  I had applied to a department store and was then recruited by the optical department.  My experience as an optician (fitting eyeglasses) sparked my interest in Optometry.

During my undergraduate course work, I began researching the various Colleges of Optometry.  I was drawn to Nova Southeastern University's College of Optometry because of the diversity of South Florida, the curriculum and the weather.  A visit to the College furthered my interest.  Fortunately, I was accepted!

While in Optometry school, I developed a deep interest in the areas of binocular and low vision (completely different ends of the spectrum:  from pediatrics to geriatrics).  I was fortunate enough to secure a position as a resident for the following year.  This was an endeavor that required an additional year of training, after I had already been through eight years of college.  It was the best decision I ever made and I am eternally grateful to the professors at NSU College of Optometry who helped me further my education and understanding of Optometric Eye Care (too many names to list).

I now live in Boca Raton, Florida and have no plans of relocating (despite the magic of the pacific northwest).  My hobbies include reading and spending time with my husband & our two little shih tzus.  (We are expecting our first child in late December.)  I am happy to admit that I feel fortunate to absolutely love what I do.

During my optometric residency and since, I have experienced different venues in which to practice Optometry.  I absolutely love being involved with LensCrafters as the culture of the company allows me to focus on independent, comprehensive, and quality eye care.  Their vast knowledge of the optical arena and comittment to excellence, allows accessibility to the latest in the field.  Operating as separate entities, while being located together, allows me to best serve you; the patient.
